   Areas affected...Central IN...Southwest OH

   Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 270...

   Valid 270228Z - 270400Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 270

SUMMARY...The severe threat continues across WW 270, but should
continue to decrease with time. Downstream watch issuance is
   currently not anticipated.

DISCUSSION...The thunderstorm cluster that earlier produced severe
wind and hail across portions of western and central IN has evolved
into a small QLCS and accelerated east-southeastward during the last
hour or so. As the system moves into southwest OH, some threat of
locally damaging wind will exist, but the relatively hostile
environment (sampled by the 00Z ILN sounding) downstream should
result in a continued decrease in the severe wind threat with this
system. Downstream watch issuance into additional portions of
southern OH is currently not anticipated.

In the wake of the QLCS, elevated thunderstorms have occasionally
flared up across portions of central and northern IN, likely aided
by continued influx of steep midlevel lapse rates from the west and
weak ascent atop the outflow. Some hail threat will exist with the
strongest of these cells, but a substantial severe threat is not
   expected with this activity.
