   MESOSCALE DISCUSSION 1022
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0733 PM CDT SUN JUN 14 2015

   AREAS AFFECTED...WEST TX...ERN NM

   CONCERNING...SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 300...

   VALID 150033Z - 150200Z

THE SEVERE WEATHER THREAT FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 300
   CONTINUES.

SUMMARY...AN ISOLATED SEVERE THREAT IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE FOR A
FEW MORE HOURS ACROSS THE TX PANHANDLE AND SWD ACROSS WEST TX. WIND
DAMAGE AND ISOLATED LARGE HAIL SHOULD BE THE PRIMARY THREATS.

DISCUSSION...LATEST SFC ANALYSIS SHOWS A SFC TROUGH ACROSS WEST TX
WITH SELY UPSLOPE FLOW IN PLACE ACROSS MUCH OF THE SRN HIGH PLAINS.
STRONG TO SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ARE ONGOING ALONG THE NWRN EDGE OF A
VERY MOIST AIRMASS WITH SFC DEWPOINTS ACROSS THE LOW ROLLING PLAINS
AND ON THE CAPROCK IN THE MID TO UPPER 60S F. THIS IS CONTRIBUTING
TO MODERATE INSTABILITY EVIDENT ON THE AMARILLO 00Z SOUNDING WHICH
SHOWS SBCAPE AT 3000 J/KG. IN ADDITION...LOW TO MID-LEVEL LAPSE
RATES ARE STEEP WITH THE WIND PROFILE SHOWING DIRECTIONAL SHEAR
BELOW 700 MB AND 0-6 KM SHEAR NEAR 30 KT. THIS SHOULD CONTINUE TO
SUPPORT AN ORGANIZED SEVERE THREAT THIS EVENING FOR SEVERAL MORE
HOURS. MULTIPLE REPORTS OF WIND GUSTS OF 80-90 MPH HAVE BEEN
RECEIVED VIA THE KVII SCHOOL-NET SITE NEAR BUSHLAND WITH THE CELL
CURRENTLY TO THE NORTHEAST OF AMARILLO. THE STORM APPEARED TO HAVE
SOME SUPERCELL STRUCTURE ALBEIT OF A HYBRID NATURE. AS THIS CELL
CONTINUES NEWD INTO THE CNTRL AND ERN PANHANDLE...DAMAGING WIND
GUSTS AND HAIL CAN BE EXPECTED.

FURTHER SOUTH A LINE OF STORMS HAD DEVELOPED TO THE WEST OF LUBBOCK
ALONG THE WRN EDGE OF THE STRONGER INSTABILITY. THIS LINE MAY
CONTINUE TO PRODUCE DAMAGING WIND GUSTS OVER THE NEXT HOUR OR TWO AS
   WELL.
