   MESOSCALE DISCUSSION 1566
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0643 PM CDT SUN AUG 17 2014

   AREAS AFFECTED...PARTS OF NRN/CNTRL/ERN NEB...WRN SD

   CONCERNING...SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 462...

   VALID 172343Z - 180045Z

THE SEVERE WEATHER THREAT FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 462
   CONTINUES.

   SUMMARY...SEVERE WIND/HAIL RISKS SHOULD PERSIST INTO MID-EVENING
WITH A SMALL MCS/EMBEDDED BOW OVER CNTRL NEB ALONG WITH A COUPLE
SUPERCELLS OVER WRN SD/NWRN NEB. DOWNSTREAM WW ISSUANCE AND/OR AREAL
EXTENSION INTO PARTS OF ERN NEB APPEARS PROBABLE.

DISCUSSION...INTENSE TSTM CLUSTER OVER CNTRL NEB HAS EVOLVED INTO A
BOW WITH COMMA-HEAD CIRCULATION CENTERED OVER LOUP COUNTY.
EXTRAPOLATED SE MOVEMENT WOULD TRACK THIS FEATURE ALONG THE
LBF/GID/OAX CWA BORDER AREA DURING THE NEXT 2-3 HOURS. HOWEVER...A
WEAK CONFLUENT BOUNDARY EVIDENT IN OBSERVATIONAL DATA EXTENDS IN A
W/E-ORIENTATION TOWARDS THURSTON/BURT COUNTIES. THIS MAY SUPPORT A
PROPAGATIONAL COMPONENT A BIT MORE TO THE E/SE. SEVERE WIND GUSTS
AND MARGINALLY SEVERE WIND-DRIVEN HAIL WILL REMAIN THE PRIMARY
   RISKS.
