   MESOSCALE DISCUSSION 1923
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0749 PM CST MON NOV 17 2014

   AREAS AFFECTED...FAR WRN NY

   CONCERNING...HEAVY SNOW

   VALID 180149Z - 180545Z

SUMMARY...BAND OF LAKE-EFFECT SNOW INVOF BUF IS EXPECTED TO BECOME
BETTER ORGANIZED OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL HOURS. SNOWFALL RATES ARE
EXPECTED TO TOP 2 INCH PER HOUR

DISCUSSION...RECENT RADAR TRENDS HAVE SHOWN A GRADUAL ORGANIZATION
OF A LES SNOW BAND NEAR BUF. A FEW LIGHTNING STRIKES HAVE ALSO BEEN
NOTED DURING THE PAST HOUR. OVERALL SYNOPTIC SET UP IS VERY
FAVORABLE FOR A CONTINUATION AND STRENGTHENING OF THIS BAND WITH
WINDS OVER LAKE ERIE REMAINING SWLY OVERNIGHT. NEAR-TERM TRENDS
SUGGEST THE BAND MAY SHIFT SOUTH SLIGHTLY WITH THE HIGHEST SNOWFALL
RATES -- SOME IN EXCESS OF 2 IN/HR -- POSSIBLE IN AND/OR JUST S OF
BUF OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL HOURS.
