   AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT...
   
   THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER IN NORMAN OK IS FORECASTING THE
   DEVELOPMENT OF WIDESPREAD DAMAGING WINDS OVER PARTS OF THE NORTHEAST
   US THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT.
   
   THE AREAS MOST LIKELY TO EXPERIENCE THIS ACTIVITY INCLUDE
   
          CENTRAL AND EASTERN NEW YORK
          NORTHEAST PENNSYLVANIA
          EXTREME WESTERN VERMONT
   
   ELSEWHERE...SEVERE STORMS ARE ALSO POSSIBLE FROM THE UPPER OHIO
   VALLEY AND MIDDLE ATLANTIC STATES INTO NEW ENGLAND.
   
   A VERY WARM AND HUMID AIR MASS HAS DEVELOPED OVER PARTS OF NEW YORK
   AND PENNSYLVANIA AHEAD OF COLD FRONT MOVING ACROSS THE LOWER GREAT
   LAKES REGION.  THIS WILL SUPPORT CONTINUED DEVELOPMENT OF STRONG AND
   SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS THROUGH THIS EVENING.  SEVERAL BANDS OF INTENSE
   STORMS ARE EXPECTED TO MOVE ACROSS THE AREA AND PRODUCE WIDESPREAD
   DAMAGING WINDS AND LARGE HAIL.  AN ISOLATED TORNADO OR TWO WILL ALSO
   BE POSSIBLE FROM THE UPPER HUDSON VALLEY IN NEW YORK INTO PARTS OF
   VERMONT AND POSSIBLY EXTREME WESTERN MASSACHUSETTS THIS AFTERNOON.
   
   STATE AND LOCAL EMERGENCY MANAGERS ARE MONITORING THIS DEVELOPING
   SITUATION. THOSE IN THE THREATENED AREA ARE URGED TO REVIEW SEVERE
   WEATHER SAFETY RULES AND TO LISTEN TO RADIO...TELEVISION...AND NOAA
   WEATHER RADIO FOR POSSIBLE WATCHES...WARNINGS...AND STATEMENTS LATER
