   TORNADO WATCH NUMBER 758
   NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   550 AM EDT TUE AUG 30 2005
   
   THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A
   TORNADO WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF 
   
          CENTRAL AND NORTHERN GEORGIA
          WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA
          WESTERN SOUTH CAROLINA
          MIDDLE AND EASTERN TENNESSEE
   
   EFFECTIVE THIS TUESDAY MORNING AND AFTERNOON FROM 550 AM UNTIL 200
   PM EDT.
   
   TORNADOES...HAIL TO 0.5 INCH IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS
   TO 70 MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS.
   
   THE TORNADO WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 85 STATUTE MILES
   EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 45 MILES SOUTH OF MACON GEORGIA TO 55
   MILES NORTH NORTHWEST OF KNOXVILLE TENNESSEE.  FOR A COMPLETE
   DEPICTION OF THE WATCH SEE THE ASSOCIATED WATCH OUTLINE UPDATE
   (WOUS64 KWNS WOU8).
   
   REMEMBER...A TORNADO WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR
   TORNADOES AND SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH AREA.
   PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR THREATENING
   WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS AND POSSIBLE
   WARNINGS.
   
   OTHER WATCH INFORMATION...THIS TORNADO WATCH REPLACES TORNADO
   WATCH NUMBER 757. WATCH NUMBER 757 WILL NOT BE IN EFFECT AFTER 550
   AM EDT. 
   
   DISCUSSION...LOW LEVEL SHEAR PROFILES REMAIN VERY STRONG EAST OF
   KATRINA.  THEREFORE ONCE HEATING COMMENCES THIS MORNING...TORNADO
   THREAT WILL INCREASE ACROSS MUCH OF WW.  RESULTANT SUPERCELLS ARE
   EXPECTED TO REMAIN SMALL...BUT WILL MOVE QUITE RAPIDLY NORTHEAST
   WITHIN AN ENVIRONMENT INCREASINGLY FAVORABLE FOR TORNADOES.
   
   AVIATION...TORNADOES AND A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HAIL
   SURFACE AND ALOFT TO 0.5 INCH. EXTREME TURBULENCE AND SURFACE WIND
   GUSTS TO 60 KNOTS. A FEW CUMULONIMBI WITH MAXIMUM TOPS TO 500.
   MEAN STORM MOTION VECTOR 21045.
