   THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A
   SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF 
   
          EXTREME EAST CENTRAL GEORGIA
          CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA
          CENTRAL SOUTH CAROLINA
   
   EFFECTIVE THIS SATURDAY MORNING FROM 440 AM UNTIL 900 AM EST.
   
   HAIL TO 1 INCH IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS TO 70
   MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS.
   
   THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 45
   STATUTE MILES NORTH AND SOUTH OF A LINE FROM 15 MILES WEST OF
   AUGUSTA GEORGIA TO 15 MILES NORTHEAST OF ROCKY MOUNT NORTH
   CAROLINA.  FOR A COMPLETE DEPICTION OF THE WATCH SEE THE

   REMEMBER...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE
   FAVORABLE FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH
   AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR
   THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS
   AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAN AND OCCASIONALLY
   DO PRODUCE TORNADOES.

   STRONG OVER THE CAROLINAS WITH LARGELY UNIDIRECTIONAL SWLY WIND
   PROFILES...BUT INSTABILITY IS WEAK.  THE RISK FOR DAMAGING WINDS
   WILL CONTINUE WITH EMBEDDED BOWING SEGMENTS GIVEN THE STRONG WIND
   ENVIRONMENT...THOUGH AN ISOLATED TORNADO CANNOT BE RULED OUT.
