   SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH NUMBER 252
   NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   245 PM CDT SAT JUN 7 2014

   THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A

   * SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF 
     NORTHERN AND CENTRAL ARKANSAS
     SOUTHWEST KENTUCKY
     SOUTHEAST MISSOURI
     WESTERN AND MIDDLE TENNESSEE

   * EFFECTIVE THIS SATURDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 245 PM UNTIL
     900 PM CDT.

   * PRIMARY THREATS INCLUDE...
     SCATTERED LARGE HAIL AND ISOLATED VERY LARGE HAIL EVENTS TO 2
       INCHES IN DIAMETER POSSIBLE
     SCATTERED DAMAGING WIND GUSTS TO 70 MPH POSSIBLE
     A TORNADO OR TWO POSSIBLE

   THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 50
   STATUTE MILES NORTH AND SOUTH OF A LINE FROM 20 MILES WEST
   NORTHWEST OF RUSSELLVILLE ARKANSAS TO 20 MILES SOUTHEAST OF
   CLARKSVILLE TENNESSEE.  FOR A COMPLETE DEPICTION OF THE WATCH SEE

   PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

   REMEMBER...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE
   FAVORABLE FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH
   AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR
   THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS
   AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAN AND OCCASIONALLY
   DO PRODUCE TORNADOES.

   DISCUSSION...STORMS ARE INTENSIFYING IN A BAND FROM SERN MO INTO
   WEST CENTRAL AR WITHIN A DEEP LAYER OF STRONGER SWLY FLOW ALOFT TO
   THE SOUTH OF AN MCV MOVING EWD ACROSS MO.  THE ENVIRONMENT HAS
   BECOME UNSTABLE WITH MLCAPE TO 2500 J/KG AS STRONG DIABATIC HEATING
   HAS OCCURRED INTO AR AND THE MID-SOUTH THROUGH THE AFTERNOON. 
   STRONGER CELLS WILL HAVE POTENTIAL TO PRODUCE PRIMARILY LARGE HAIL
   AND DAMAGING WIND GUSTS AS THEY MOVE EWD 25-30 KT....ALTHOUGH A
   BRIEF TORNADO OVER FAR NERN AR/SERN MO AND EXTREME SWRN KY/NWRN TN
   MAY ALSO BE POSSIBLE.

   AVIATION...A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HAIL SURFACE AND ALOFT
   TO 2 INCHES. EXTREME TURBULENCE AND SURFACE WIND GUSTS TO 60
   KNOTS. A FEW CUMULONIMBI WITH MAXIMUM TOPS TO 500. MEAN STORM
   MOTION VECTOR 25030.
