   NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   710 PM CDT FRI JUN 13 2014

   THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A

   * SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF 
     THE TEXAS SOUTH PLAINS AND SOUTHWEST TEXAS PANHANDLE

   * EFFECTIVE THIS FRIDAY NIGHT FROM 710 PM UNTIL MIDNIGHT CDT.

   * PRIMARY THREATS INCLUDE...
     SCATTERED DAMAGING WIND GUSTS TO 70 MPH POSSIBLE

   THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 55
   STATUTE MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 40 MILES NORTHWEST OF
   AMARILLO TEXAS TO 50 MILES SOUTH SOUTHWEST OF LUBBOCK TEXAS.  FOR
   A COMPLETE DEPICTION OF THE WATCH SEE THE ASSOCIATED WATCH
   OUTLINE UPDATE (WOUS64 KWNS WOU2).

   PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

   REMEMBER...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE
   FAVORABLE FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH
   AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR
   THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS
   AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAN AND OCCASIONALLY
   DO PRODUCE TORNADOES.

   DISCUSSION...QLCS IN ERN NM WILL CONTINUE EWD INTO W TX...SUPPORTED
   BY INCREASING LOW-LEVEL SLY FLOW THIS EVENING AND MODERATE
   INSTABILITY PER 00Z MAF/AMA SOUNDINGS.  LIFT ALONG THE GUST FRONT
   SHOULD BE SUFFICIENT TO MAINTAIN THE STORMS DESPITE SOME CONVECTIVE
   INHIBITION NOTED IN 00Z SOUNDINGS...AND A CONTINUED RISK OF DAMAGING
   WINDS IS EXPECTED PER THE RECENT 61 KT GUST AT TCC.

   AVIATION...A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HAIL SURFACE AND ALOFT
   TO 1.5 INCHES. EXTREME TURBULENCE AND SURFACE WIND GUSTS TO 60
   KNOTS. A FEW CUMULONIMBI WITH MAXIMUM TOPS TO 500. MEAN STORM
   MOTION VECTOR 28030.
