   NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   355 PM MDT TUE JUN 17 2014

   THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A

   * TORNADO WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF 
     NORTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA
     SOUTH CENTRAL SOUTH DAKOTA

   * EFFECTIVE THIS TUESDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 355 PM UNTIL
     1000 PM MDT.

   * PRIMARY THREATS INCLUDE...
     A COUPLE TORNADOES POSSIBLE
     SCATTERED LARGE HAIL AND ISOLATED VERY LARGE HAIL EVENTS TO 3
       INCHES IN DIAMETER POSSIBLE
     ISOLATED DAMAGING WIND GUSTS TO 70 MPH POSSIBLE

   THE TORNADO WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 70 STATUTE
   MILES NORTH AND SOUTH OF A LINE FROM 70 MILES NORTHWEST OF MULLEN
   NEBRASKA TO 35 MILES EAST NORTHEAST OF AINSWORTH NEBRASKA.  FOR A

   PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

   REMEMBER...A TORNADO WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR
   TORNADOES AND SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH
   AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR
   THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS
   AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS.

   STALLED BOUNDARY NEAR THE SD/NE BORDER W OF VALENTINE.  STEEP LAPSE
   RATES AND LARGE CAPE ARE PRESENT IN THE MOIST ELY FLOW ACROSS NRN
   NEB...WHERE DEEP-LAYER SHEAR IS SUFFICIENT FOR SUPERCELLS.  EXPECT
   SLOW-MOVING SUPERCELLS THIS AFTERNOON/EVENING CAPABLE OF PRODUCING
   VERY LARGE HAIL AND A COUPLE TORNADOES.

   AVIATION...TORNADOES AND A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HAIL
   SURFACE AND ALOFT TO 3 INCHES. EXTREME TURBULENCE AND SURFACE
   WIND GUSTS TO 60 KNOTS. A FEW CUMULONIMBI WITH MAXIMUM TOPS TO
   550. MEAN STORM MOTION VECTOR 28015.
