   NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK

   THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A

   * SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF 
     SOUTHWEST IOWA
     NORTHERN KANSAS
     NORTHWEST MISSOURI
     CENTRAL AND EASTERN NEBRASKA

   * EFFECTIVE THIS MONDAY AFTERNOON AND TUESDAY MORNING FROM 540 PM
     UNTIL 100 AM CDT.

   * PRIMARY THREATS INCLUDE...
     WIDESPREAD DAMAGING WINDS AND ISOLATED SIGNIFICANT GUSTS TO 75
       MPH LIKELY
     WIDESPREAD LARGE HAIL AND ISOLATED VERY LARGE HAIL EVENTS TO 2.5
       INCHES IN DIAMETER LIKELY

   THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 75
   STATUTE MILES NORTH AND SOUTH OF A LINE FROM 45 MILES WEST OF
   BROKEN BOW NEBRASKA TO 35 MILES EAST SOUTHEAST OF FALLS CITY
   NEBRASKA.  FOR A COMPLETE DEPICTION OF THE WATCH SEE THE

   PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

   REMEMBER...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE
   FAVORABLE FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH
   AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR
   THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS
   AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAN AND OCCASIONALLY
   DO PRODUCE TORNADOES.

   DISCUSSION...THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO INTENSIFY OVER NEBRASKA
   THIS EVENING AND TRACK RAPIDLY SOUTHEASTWARD ACROSS THE WATCH AREA. 
   FAVORABLE SHEAR PROFILES...COUPLED WITH STRONG INSTABILITY AND AN
   APPROACHING UPPER TROUGH MAY RESULT IN MULTIPLE BOWS/CLUSTERS OF
   SEVERE STORMS CAPABLE OF DAMAGING WINDS AND VERY LARGE HAIL.

   AVIATION...A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HAIL SURFACE AND ALOFT
   TO 2.5 INCHES. EXTREME TURBULENCE AND SURFACE WIND GUSTS TO 65
   KNOTS. A FEW CUMULONIMBI WITH MAXIMUM TOPS TO 550. MEAN STORM
   MOTION VECTOR 31040.
