   SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH NUMBER 424
   NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   830 PM MDT TUE JUL 15 2014

   THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A

   * SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF 
     WESTERN NEBRASKA PANHANDLE
     SOUTHEAST WYOMING

   * EFFECTIVE THIS TUESDAY NIGHT AND WEDNESDAY MORNING FROM 830 PM
     UNTIL 200 AM MDT.

   * PRIMARY THREATS INCLUDE...
     ISOLATED VERY LARGE HAIL EVENTS TO 2 INCHES IN DIAMETER POSSIBLE
     ISOLATED DAMAGING WIND GUSTS TO 70 MPH POSSIBLE

   THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 60
   STATUTE MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 50 MILES NORTH
   NORTHEAST OF DOUGLAS WYOMING TO 15 MILES SOUTHWEST OF CHEYENNE
   WYOMING.  FOR A COMPLETE DEPICTION OF THE WATCH SEE THE

   PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

   REMEMBER...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE
   FAVORABLE FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH
   AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR
   THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS
   AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAN AND OCCASIONALLY
   DO PRODUCE TORNADOES.

   DISCUSSION...SMALL AREA OF SEVERE STORM POTENTIAL WILL EXIST OVER
   THE NEXT FEW HOURS ACROSS SOUTHEAST WY AND PERHAPS INTO WESTERN NEB
   PANHANDLE. SHORT WAVE DIGGING SOUTHEAST FROM MT/WY WILL SUSTAIN
   LARGE SCALE ASCENT AND SHEAR ACROSS NARROW INSTABILITY CORRIDOR
   ACROSS SOUTHEAST WY. SHEAR ON THE ORDER OF 40-50KT AND MLCAPE NEAR
   1000 J/KG SHOULD BE ADEQUATE TO SUSTAIN ORGANIZED UPDRAFTS WITH SOME
   LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WIND GUST POTENTIAL.

   AVIATION...A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HAIL SURFACE AND ALOFT
   TO 2 INCHES. EXTREME TURBULENCE AND SURFACE WIND GUSTS TO 60
   KNOTS. A FEW CUMULONIMBI WITH MAXIMUM TOPS TO 450. MEAN STORM
   MOTION VECTOR 29030.
