   SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH NUMBER 436
   NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   450 PM MDT TUE AUG 9 2016

   THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A

   * SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF 
     MONTANA

   * EFFECTIVE THIS TUESDAY AFTERNOON FROM 450 PM UNTIL MIDNIGHT
     MDT.

   * PRIMARY THREATS INCLUDE...
     ISOLATED VERY LARGE HAIL EVENTS TO 2.5 INCHES IN DIAMETER
       POSSIBLE
     ISOLATED DAMAGING WIND GUSTS TO 70 MPH POSSIBLE

   SUMMARY...INCREASING FORCING AND VERTICAL SHEAR IN CONJUNCTION WITH
   A MODESTLY MOIST AND UNSTABLE ENVIRONMENT WILL SUPPORT SUPERCELLS
   CAPABLE OF LARGE HAIL ESPECIALLY ACROSS NORTH-CENTRAL AND
   EAST-CENTRAL MONTANA. ONE OR MORE SMALL-SCALE CLUSTERS MAY ALSO
   EVOLVE THIS EVENING WITH A DAMAGING WIND RISK.

   THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 75
   STATUTE MILES NORTH AND SOUTH OF A LINE FROM 50 MILES WEST
   NORTHWEST OF GREAT FALLS MONTANA TO 140 MILES EAST NORTHEAST OF
   LEWISTOWN MONTANA.  FOR A COMPLETE DEPICTION OF THE WATCH SEE THE

   PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

   REMEMBER...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE
   FAVORABLE FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH
   AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR
   THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS
   AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAN AND OCCASIONALLY
   DO PRODUCE TORNADOES.
