   SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH NUMBER 438
   NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   405 AM CDT WED AUG 10 2016

   THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A

   * SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF 
     CENTRAL AND NORTH-CENTRAL MINNESOTA
     NORTHWESTERN WISCONSIN

   * EFFECTIVE THIS WEDNESDAY MORNING FROM 405 AM UNTIL 900 AM CDT.

   * PRIMARY THREATS INCLUDE...
     SCATTERED DAMAGING WINDS AND ISOLATED SIGNIFICANT GUSTS TO 80
       MPH POSSIBLE

   SUMMARY...A FORWARD-PROPAGATING...BOWING COMPLEX OF THUNDERSTORMS
   WITH A HISTORY OF SIGNIFICANT-SEVERE MEASURED WINDS UP TO 92 MPH
   WILL PROCEED EASTWARD ACROSS THE WATCH AREA FOR A FEW MORE HOURS. 
   WHILE THE ENVIRONMENT IS NOT QUITE AS FAVORABLE AS IT WAS OVER THE
   DAKOTAS...SEVERE WINDS STILL WILL BE A HAZARD...POTENTIALLY AS FAR
   EAST AS NORTHWESTERN WISCONSIN.  SEE SPC MESOSCALE DISCUSSION 1508

   THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 50
   STATUTE MILES NORTH AND SOUTH OF A LINE FROM 60 MILES WEST
   SOUTHWEST OF BRAINERD MINNESOTA TO 105 MILES EAST NORTHEAST OF
   SAINT CLOUD MINNESOTA.  FOR A COMPLETE DEPICTION OF THE WATCH SEE

   PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

   FAVORABLE FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH
   AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR
   THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS
   AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAN AND OCCASIONALLY
   DO PRODUCE TORNADOES.
