   SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH NUMBER 453
   NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   155 PM CDT FRI AUG 19 2016

   THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A

   * SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF 
     PARTS OF CENTRAL AND NORTHEAST KANSAS
     SOUTHEAST NEBRASKA

   * EFFECTIVE THIS FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 155 PM UNTIL
     800 PM CDT.

   * PRIMARY THREATS INCLUDE...
     ISOLATED DAMAGING WIND GUSTS TO 70 MPH POSSIBLE
     ISOLATED LARGE HAIL EVENTS TO 1.5 INCHES IN DIAMETER POSSIBLE

   SUMMARY...MULTICELL CLUSTERS NOW FORMING OVER SOUTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA
   AND NORTH CENTRAL KANSAS WILL LIKELY MERGE INTO A LARGER LINE OF
   STORMS AND SPREAD EASTWARD THIS AFTERNOON.  ISOLATED DAMAGING WINDS
   AND LARGE HAIL WILL BE THE MAIN THREATS.

   THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 60
   STATUTE MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 30 MILES NORTH OF
   BEATRICE NEBRASKA TO 40 MILES SOUTH SOUTHWEST OF SALINA KANSAS.

   PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

   REMEMBER...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE
   FAVORABLE FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH
   AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR
   THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS
   AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAN AND OCCASIONALLY
   DO PRODUCE TORNADOES.

   TO 1.5 INCHES. EXTREME TURBULENCE AND SURFACE WIND GUSTS TO 60
