   URGENT - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED
   SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH NUMBER 454
   NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   155 PM MDT THU AUG 7 2014

   THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A

   * SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF
     EASTERN COLORADO

   * EFFECTIVE THIS THURSDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 155 PM UNTIL
     700 PM MDT.

   * PRIMARY THREATS INCLUDE...
     ISOLATED DAMAGING WIND GUSTS TO 70 MPH POSSIBLE
     ISOLATED LARGE HAIL EVENTS TO 1.5 INCHES IN DIAMETER POSSIBLE

   THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 75
   STATUTE MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 50 MILES NORTH
   NORTHWEST OF AKRON COLORADO TO 45 MILES EAST SOUTHEAST OF
   TRINIDAD COLORADO. FOR A COMPLETE DEPICTION OF THE WATCH SEE THE
   ASSOCIATED WATCH OUTLINE UPDATE (WOUS64 KWNS WOU4).

   PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

   REMEMBER...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE
   FAVORABLE FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH
   AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR
   THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS
   AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAN AND OCCASIONALLY
   DO PRODUCE TORNADOES.

   &&

   DISCUSSION...STRONG/LOCALLY SEVERE STORMS ARE FORECAST TO CONTINUE
   DEVELOPING ACROSS PARTS OF EASTERN COLORADO THIS AFTERNOON...WITH
   SOME POTENTIAL FOR LOCAL/UPSCALE GROWTH INTO AN MCS BY EARLY
   EVENING. GIVEN THE DEGREE OF INSTABILITY EAST OF THE FRONT RANGE
   AND 0-6 KM BULK SHEAR AROUND 30 KT...A FEW CELLS WITH MID-LEVEL
   ROTATION WILL BE POSSIBLE -- WITH ASSOCIATED RISK FOR HAIL AND/OR
   LOCALLY DAMAGING WINDS. WIND RISK COULD INCREASE A BIT LATER THIS
   AFTERNOON/EARLY EVENING...PRESUMING THE AFOREMENTIONED CONGEALING OF
   STORMS INTO A FORWARD-PROPAGATING LINE.

   AVIATION...A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HAIL SURFACE AND ALOFT
   TO 1.5 INCHES. EXTREME TURBULENCE AND SURFACE WIND GUSTS TO 60
   KNOTS. A FEW CUMULONIMBI WITH MAXIMUM TOPS TO 500. MEAN STORM
   MOTION VECTOR 26030.
