   SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH NUMBER 456
   NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   750 PM CDT FRI AUG 8 2014

   THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A

   * SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF 
     SOUTHWEST AND CENTRAL NEBRASKA

   * EFFECTIVE THIS FRIDAY NIGHT AND SATURDAY MORNING FROM 750 PM
     UNTIL 100 AM CDT.

   * PRIMARY THREATS INCLUDE...
     SCATTERED DAMAGING WIND GUSTS TO 70 MPH POSSIBLE
     SCATTERED LARGE HAIL EVENTS TO 1.5 INCHES IN DIAMETER POSSIBLE

   THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 55
   STATUTE MILES EITHER SIDE OF A LINE FROM 25 MILES NORTH NORTHWEST
   OF IMPERIAL NEBRASKA TO 25 MILES NORTH OF GRAND ISLAND NEBRASKA.

   PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

   REMEMBER...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE
   FAVORABLE FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH
   AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR
   THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS
   AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAN AND OCCASIONALLY
   DO PRODUCE TORNADOES.

   DISCUSSION...A FEW MORE STORMS ARE DEVELOPING SOUTH OF AN OUTFLOW
   BOUNDARY MOVING SEWD IN CENTRAL NEB...WITH OTHER STORMS MOVING EWD
   INTO SWRN NEB.  ACTIVITY IMMEDIATELY NORTH OF THE OUTFLOW WILL HAVE
   PRIMARILY A LARGE HAIL THREAT...WHILE STORMS ALONG/SOUTH OF THE
   BOUNDARY MAY ALSO HAVE SEVERE WIND POTENTIAL AS THEY MOVE THROUGH AN
   UNSTABLE /MLCAPE TO 2000 J PER KG/ AND MODERATELY SHEARED
   ENVIRONMENT.

   AVIATION...A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HAIL SURFACE AND ALOFT
   TO 1.5 INCHES. EXTREME TURBULENCE AND SURFACE WIND GUSTS TO 60
   KNOTS. A FEW CUMULONIMBI WITH MAXIMUM TOPS TO 500. MEAN STORM
   MOTION VECTOR 27020.
