   SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH NUMBER 477
   NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   420 PM MDT MON AUG 25 2014

   THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A

   * SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF 
     EAST CENTRAL COLORADO

   * EFFECTIVE THIS MONDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 420 PM UNTIL
     1000 PM MDT.

   * PRIMARY THREATS INCLUDE...
     ISOLATED VERY LARGE HAIL EVENTS TO 2 INCHES IN DIAMETER POSSIBLE
     ISOLATED DAMAGING WIND GUSTS TO 70 MPH POSSIBLE

   THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 55
   STATUTE MILES NORTH AND SOUTH OF A LINE FROM 45 MILES WEST
   SOUTHWEST OF LIMON COLORADO TO 15 MILES SOUTHEAST OF BURLINGTON
   COLORADO.  FOR A COMPLETE DEPICTION OF THE WATCH SEE THE

   PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

   REMEMBER...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE
   FAVORABLE FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH
   AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR
   THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS
   AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAN AND OCCASIONALLY
   DO PRODUCE TORNADOES.

   DISCUSSION...CONVECTION MOVING OFF THE FRONT RANGE SHOULD INTENSIFY
   THIS AFTERNOON/EVENING WHILE MOVING INTO SOMEWHAT GREATER
   INSTABILITY AND DEEP-LAYER VERTICAL SHEAR ALONG THE I-70 CORRIDOR
   INTO E CENTRAL CO.  THE ENVIRONMENT WILL FAVOR SUPERCELLS WITH A
   RISK FOR LARGE HAIL AND A FEW DAMAGING GUSTS INTO EARLY TONIGHT.

   AVIATION...A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HAIL SURFACE AND ALOFT
   TO 2 INCHES. EXTREME TURBULENCE AND SURFACE WIND GUSTS TO 60
   KNOTS. A FEW CUMULONIMBI WITH MAXIMUM TOPS TO 500. MEAN STORM
   MOTION VECTOR 27020.
