   SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH NUMBER 489
   NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   610 PM CDT SAT AUG 15 2015

   THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A

   * SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF 
     NORTHWESTERN MINNESOTA
     EASTERN NORTH DAKOTA

   * EFFECTIVE THIS SATURDAY NIGHT AND SUNDAY MORNING FROM 610 PM
     UNTIL 100 AM CDT.

   * PRIMARY THREATS INCLUDE...
     ISOLATED SIGNIFICANT DAMAGING WIND GUSTS TO 75 MPH POSSIBLE
     ISOLATED VERY LARGE HAIL EVENTS TO 2.5 INCHES IN DIAMETER
       POSSIBLE

   SUMMARY...THUNDERSTORM COVERAGE AND INTENSITY ARE EXPECTED TO
   INCREASE THROUGH AT LEAST EARLY EVENING OVER THE WATCH AREA...ALONG
   AND EAST OF A WELL-DEFINED WIND-SHIFT LINE THAT IS IMPINGING ON A
   RICHLY MOST AND STRONGLY HEATED AIR MASS.  ACTIVITY SHOULD OFFER
   DAMAGING WIND AND LARGE HAIL RISKS AS IT MOVES GENERALLY EASTWARD.

   THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 85
   STATUTE MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 70 MILES SOUTH
   SOUTHEAST OF JAMESTOWN NORTH DAKOTA TO 15 MILES NORTH NORTHWEST
   OF HALLOCK MINNESOTA.  FOR A COMPLETE DEPICTION OF THE WATCH SEE

   PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

   REMEMBER...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE
   FAVORABLE FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH
   AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR
   THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS
   AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAN AND OCCASIONALLY
   DO PRODUCE TORNADOES.
