   SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH NUMBER 527
   NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   950 PM CDT FRI OCT 10 2014

   THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A

   * SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF 
     CENTRAL AND NORTH TEXAS

   * EFFECTIVE THIS FRIDAY NIGHT AND SATURDAY MORNING FROM 950 PM
     UNTIL 400 AM CDT.

   * PRIMARY THREATS INCLUDE...
     ISOLATED DAMAGING WIND GUSTS TO 70 MPH POSSIBLE

   THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 60
   STATUTE MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 30 MILES WEST
   SOUTHWEST OF WACO TEXAS TO 50 MILES NORTH NORTHEAST OF DALLAS
   TEXAS.  FOR A COMPLETE DEPICTION OF THE WATCH SEE THE ASSOCIATED
   WATCH OUTLINE UPDATE (WOUS64 KWNS WOU7).

   PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

   REMEMBER...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE
   FAVORABLE FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH
   AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR
   THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS
   AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAN AND OCCASIONALLY
   DO PRODUCE TORNADOES.

   DISCUSSION...A MOIST AND UNSTABLE AIRMASS IS IN PLACE ACROSS NORTH
   AND CENTRAL TEXAS WHERE MODERATE DEEP-LAYER SHEAR IS EVIDENT ON
   REGIONAL WSR-88D VWPS. SEVERAL STRONG TO SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WILL
   MOVE EASTWARD INTO THIS FAVORABLE AIRMASS FOR SEVERE STORMS.
   ALTHOUGH HAIL WILL BE POSSIBLE WITH THE STRONGER UPDRAFTS...THE
   GREATEST THREAT WILL BE FOR DAMAGING WIND GUSTS WITH SHORT BOWING
   LINE SEGMENTS.

   AVIATION...A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HAIL SURFACE AND ALOFT
   TO 1.5 INCHES. EXTREME TURBULENCE AND SURFACE WIND GUSTS TO 60
   KNOTS. A FEW CUMULONIMBI WITH MAXIMUM TOPS TO 500. MEAN STORM
   MOTION VECTOR 27035.
