Methodology
In an attempt to objectively determine the spatial distribution of severe weather reports, a 40km grid was constructed across the contiguous United States. The SPC Severe Thunderstorm and Tornado Database was then written to the grid. The resulting fields are shown in these graphs. A 40km grid size was chosen to best represent a typical county or parish.
