Effective Inflow Layer
Beginning at the ground and working upward, each data level in the sounding is lifted to
calculate CAPE and CINH. Those lifted parcels with CAPE > 100 J/kg and CINH > -250 J/kg are considered to be
part of the potential thunderstorm "inflow" layer. The sounding plot marks the top and bottom (in m AGL) of the
first contiguous layer of parcels that satisfy the CAPE and CINH constraints. The storm-relative helicity value
for the effective inflow layer is plotted also plotted, using the storm motion algorithm developed by Bunkers et al.
(2000). Please see Thompson et al. (2007) for more information.
