Day 3-8 Fire Weather Outlook
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0238 PM CST Sun Nov 07 2021
Valid 091200Z - 151200Z
A mid/upper-level trough is forecast to deepen while moving across
the western CONUS and over the Rockies Day 3/Tuesday into Day
4/Wednesday. Thereafter, the trough is forecast to deepen further
while gradually shifting from the central Plains late Day
4/Wednesday to the Great Lakes region into Day 7/Saturday. As this
occurs, mid-level ridging is forecast to build across the
southwestern CONUS in the wake of the trough.
Overall, the potential for large-scale critical fire weather
conditions during the extend forecast period is relatively low.
While some lower-end fire weather conditions are possible Day
4/Wednesday across portions of the southern High Plains (as stronger
mid-level flow impinges on the area), the potential of critical
wind/rh overlapping critically receptive fuels is currently too low
to introduce probabilities.
