Day 3-8 Fire Weather Outlook
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0149 PM CST Tue Jan 18 2022
Valid 201200Z - 261200Z
A broad, cyclonic upper flow pattern will dominate the CONUS through
the Days 3-8/Thursday-Tuesday time frame. Across the central U.S.,
northwesterly mid-level flow will persist through the extended
period, with embedded 500 mb shortwave troughs sweeping southward
across the Plains states. Accompanying surface cold fronts and
subsequent high pressure will reinforce cooler and or moist
conditions across much of the central and southern Plains,
precluding widespread, significant wildfire-spread potential.
