Day 3-8 Fire Weather Outlook
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
1251 PM CST Wed Jan 19 2022
Valid 211200Z - 271200Z
A progressive upper pattern, consisting of multiple mid-level
troughs traversing the CONUS in a large-scale northwesterly flow
regime, will become established during the Days
3-8/Friday-Wednesday. The surface mass response will consist
primarily of southward-moving surface cold fronts/highs and
associated cooler air across the Plains states which will limit
significant wildfire-spread potential. One exception may be Day
6/Monday, when modest lee troughing may encourage some dry/breezy
conditions across the southern High Plains. Still, confidence in
Critical conditions is too low to introduce Critical probabilities
at this time.
