   Mesoscale Discussion 0045
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   0521 PM CST Sat Jan 11 2020

   Areas affected...southeast Alabama...Florida Panhandle...southwest
   Georgia

   Concerning...Tornado Watch 16...

   Valid 112321Z - 120115Z

The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 16 continues.

SUMMARY...The severe threat continues across portions of WW0016 with
damaging winds and a brief tornado remaining possible. A local
extension may be necessary downstream of WW0016 in the next 1-2
   hours.

DISCUSSION...A squall line continues to move eastward across the
Southeast with a history of damaging winds, including a 56 knot gust
in Dothan, AL at 2301 UTC, and brief tornadoes embedded within the
line. As the upper-level shortwave trough lifts more to the
northeast, forcing for ascent will begin to wane ahead of the line,
especially farther across southern Georgia and northern Florida.
Additionally, mesoanalysis indicates increasing stabilization ahead
of line as insolation fades. As such, the southern portion of the
QLCS will likely weaken in the next 1-3 hours as it moves into a
less favorable environment. However, it may move out of WW0016
before doing so, possibly necessitating a local watch extension
downstream with damaging winds and a brief tornado continuing as the
   severe threats.
