   Mesoscale Discussion 0087
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   0433 AM CST Thu Feb 06 2020

Areas affected...Parts of southeastern Mississippi and southwestern
   through central Alabama

   Concerning...Tornado Watch 25...

   Valid 061033Z - 061200Z

The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 25 continues.

SUMMARY...Remaining valid portion of Tornado Watch 25 probably needs
to be locally extended in time another couple of hours.

DISCUSSION...A short wave impulse, which has emerged from the base
of large-scale mid/upper troughing, is now accelerating northeast of
the Ark-La-Tex region. Forcing for ascent related to this feature
has aided increasing thunderstorm development along and in the wake
of the cold front, which is still west of Birmingham, Mobile and
Biloxi, but is beginning to surge east of New Orleans. Increasing
2-hourly surface pressure rises are now evident in the wake of the
cold front across southwestern Mississippi into southeastern
Louisiana, and it does appear that an eastward acceleration of the
front is underway. However, it may not advance through the
remaining valid portions of Tornado Watch 25 until the 12-14Z time
frame. Until it does, the environment remains conditionally
supportive of severe thunderstorm development ahead of the cold
front, with the latest Rapid Refresh suggesting further
strengthening of southerly 850 mb flow still possible contributing
to strong to extreme low-level shear.
