   Mesoscale Discussion 0091
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   1045 AM CST Thu Feb 06 2020

Areas affected...Portions of Southern and eastern Georgia...Portions
of Florida Panhandle and North Florida

   Concerning...Severe potential...Tornado Watch likely

   Valid 061645Z - 061815Z

   Probability of Watch Issuance...95 percent

SUMMARY...An increase in the threat for damaging wind gusts and a
few tornadoes is expected this afternoon in portions of
southern/eastern Georgia and North Florida. A new tornado watch will
be needed soon to replace eastern parts of WW 26 as well as include
   areas farther east.

DISCUSSION...An ongoing line of thunderstorms continues to move out
of eastern Alabama into western Georgia. While the environment ahead
of this activity will continue to become more favorable for severe
storms, this process will likely be relatively slow on account of
widespread cloud cover inhibiting surface heating. Discrete showers
have formed ahead of the cold front in western Georgia, but have
struggled to mature over the last hour. Strong low-level winds are
evident on WSR-88D VAD profiles within the region with enlarged
low-level hodographs. Storm mode would suggest that strong/severe
wind gusts will be the primary threat with activity moving out of
Alabama and into Georgia. However, a few tornadoes will be possible,
particularly with any discrete activity that can mature ahead of the
   cold front.

With WW 26 scheduled to expire at 18Z, a new tornado watch will be
needed relatively soon to replace eastern portions of WW 26 while
including areas further downstream into South Carolina.
