   Mesoscale Discussion 0094
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   0132 PM CST Thu Feb 06 2020

Areas affected...Portions of Florida Panhandle and north
   Florida...southern/eastern Georgia...central South Carolina

   Concerning...Tornado Watch 29...

   Valid 061932Z - 062030Z

The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 29 continues.

SUMMARY...Storm mode has become increasing linear along the
advancing surface boundary within WW 29. Storms ahead of the line
have only sporadically shown signs of maturation/intensification.
Damaging wind gusts will likely be the primary threat as this line
progresses eastward. The greatest tornado threat will be from
east-central Georgia into south-central South Carolina where a few
remaining discrete storms exist and low-level flow is more backed.

DISCUSSION...A line of strong/severe thunderstorms with embedded
bowing segments continues progress eastward in WW 29. Limited
surface heating has continued to keep convection from becoming more
vigorous. In spite of limited buoyancy, several observed wind gusts
near severe limits have occurred over the last few hours from the
western Florida Panhandle into central Georgia. Storm mode has
become markedly more linear with time suggesting that damaging wind
gusts will be the primary threat during the afternoon/evening. The
greatest tornado threat will exist from east-central Georgia into
south-central South Carolina where surface winds are more backed
nearer the deepening surface flow and a couple storms have remained
discrete. Farther south, low-level winds are more veered ahead of
the front. Portions of southeast Georgia have experience greater
surface heating than surrounding areas. A few showers have attempted
to intensify in this area, but weak mid-level lapse rates observed
on the 18Z TLH/JAX soundings have limited their ability to do so.
