   Mesoscale Discussion 0098
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   0648 PM CST Thu Feb 06 2020

   Areas affected...Far Northeast Ohio...Northwest Pennsylvania...and
   Western New York

   Concerning...Freezing rain

   Valid 070048Z - 070445Z

SUMMARY...Freezing rain is developing across the region, with
0.02-0.04 inches of accumulation per hour possible this evening.

DISCUSSION...An area of mixed light precipitation (mainly freezing
rain) has developed over parts of north-central Ohio and is moving
northeastward, with very light precipitation now developing over
parts of northwest Pennsylvania and western New York. Meanwhile, an
elongated area of low pressure is present over adjacent areas to the
southeast of the ongoing precipitation. As cyclogenesis continues to
occur this evening, low pressure should become more organized, with
a resulting deformation zone expanding across the region. The 00z
KBUF sounding indicates a warm layer (2-3 C) residing in the 850-750
mb layer, and with surface temperatures in the upper 20s and low 30s
across the region, freezing rain should continue this evening, with
0.02-0.04 inches of accumulation per hour possible for for the next
   3-4 hours.
