   Mesoscale Discussion 0109
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   0203 PM CST Fri Feb 07 2020

Areas affected...Portions of far northeast New York into northern
Vermont...northern New Hampshire...and western into northern Maine

   Concerning...Heavy snow

   Valid 072003Z - 080000Z

SUMMARY...Heavy snow will continue across portions of northern New
England, south of the international border, with 1 inch/hr rates
still possible. Elsewhere, across southern Maine into central New
Hampshire, a mix of freezing rain and occasional sleet are also
expected to continue for a couple more hours.

DISCUSSION...As a 972 mb low continues to deepen and translate to
the northeast across New England, low-level WAA will promote
continued saturation and lift within the lower troposphere, where
heavy snow (northern Vermont into far west Maine) and a freezing
rain/wintry mix (central New Hampshire into southern Maine) continue
   to be reported.

Latest SREF, HREF and HRRR guidance suggests that up to 1 inch/hr
snowfall rates (near the international border) and .05 inch/3 hr
freezing rain rates (central New Hampshire/southern Maine) will
remain possible through at least the 21Z time frame. Thereafter,
winter weather conditions are expected to gradually subside with the
   departure of the surface low.
