Mesoscale Discussion 0155
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
1134 AM CST Wed Mar 04 2020
Areas affected...Portions of southern GA and far northern FL
Concerning...Tornado Watch 44...
Valid 041734Z - 041900Z
The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 44 continues.
SUMMARY...An isolated severe threat should continue this afternoon
across parts of southern Georgia and far northern Florida.
DISCUSSION...A surface boundary continues to sag slowly southward
across southern GA and parts of the FL Panhandle. This trend is
expected to continue over the next couple of hours. Any appreciable
severe threat will likely remain confined along/south of this
boundary. There has been some diurnal heating across southern GA and
vicinity, and a very moist low-level airmass is also present. Strong
mid-level westerly flow will persist and potentially support
organized storm structures. Low-level southwesterly winds are
forecast to gradually strengthen this afternoon as an upper low over
the southern Plains migrates slowly eastward. Strong to locally
damaging winds should be the main threat, but an isolated tornado
cannot be ruled out.
