   Mesoscale Discussion 0181
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   1101 AM CDT Sat Mar 14 2020

   Areas affected...east-central Illinois...central
   Indiana...west-central Ohio

   Concerning...Winter mixed precipitation

   Valid 141601Z - 141800Z

SUMMARY...A narrow band of heavy snow and/or sleet has developed
from east-central Illinois into west-central Ohio. It will likely
   continue into the early afternoon.

DISCUSSION...Warm-air advection across the Midwest and Ohio Valley
is occurring ahead of an upper-level shortwave trough. Isentropic
lifting is resulting in precipitation across the region including
snow and winter mixed preciptiation. Heavy precipitation rates and
near/sub-freezing wet bulb temperatures have resulted in recent
heavy snow and sleet reports from central Illinois into central
Indiana. This narrow corridor at the nexus of the warm conveyor belt
will continue to produce heavy snow/sleet for the next couple of
hours before the stronger warm air advection wanes and moves
eastward. Heavy snow/sleet may continue for longer into portions of
   west-central Ohio this afternoon.
