   Mesoscale Discussion 0236
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   0343 AM CDT Fri Mar 27 2020

   Areas affected...Far East-Central MO...Southern IL...Far Southwest
   IN

   Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 63...

   Valid 270843Z - 271015Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 63
   continues.

SUMMARY...Threat for severe hail will continue across southern IL
into far southwest IN for the next few hours.

DISCUSSION...Radar signatures within the pair of supercells moving
through the northern portions of the St. Louis area continue to show
characteristics of severe hail. Given the favorable deep-layer shear
in place, these organized storms are expected to persist eastward
for the next hour or two. Some gradual decreases in intensity is
anticipated as the low-level jet slowly weakens.

Additional storm development has occurred ahead of these supercells
across central portions of southern IL. These storms developed
quickly as low/mid-level moisture advection weaken convective
inhibition enough for parcels to reach their LFCs. As with the
storms farther west, some hail is possible over the next or two.
However, longevity of the severe threat will be tempered by a
weakening low-level jet. Short duration of the threat combined with
limit spatial extent will preclude the need for watch.
