Mesoscale Discussion 0301
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0904 PM CDT Tue Apr 07 2020
Areas affected...Parts of northern Indiana...northern Ohio and
adjacent portions of western Pennsylvania
Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 84...
Valid 080204Z - 080330Z
The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 84
continues.
SUMMARY...An evolving convective systesm may posing increasing
potential for strong wind gusts while advancing southward toward the
Interstate 70 corridor through Midnight-2 AM EDT.
DISCUSSION...Convection has continued to grow upscale into a linear
convective system, aided by large-scale ascent associated with warm
advection, mid-level cooling and difluent flow aloft. Supported by
continuing inflow of air characterized by moderately large CAPE,
this activity may intensify further while spreading south of the
lower Great Lakes region, toward the Interstate 70 corridor of Ohio
through 04-06Z. The environment may remain conducive to severe
hail, particularly on the southwestern flank of the system, across
parts of northeastern Indiana. Otherwise, as surface cold pools
continue to congeal, the potential for strong surface gusts may
still increase across northern Ohio, perhaps into adjacent portions
of Pennsylvania.
