Mesoscale Discussion 0319
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0914 PM CDT Wed Apr 08 2020
Areas affected...southern Ohio...eastern Kentucky...West Virginia
Concerning...Severe potential...Watch likely
Valid 090214Z - 090445Z
Probability of Watch Issuance...80 percent
SUMMARY...Storms may continue to produce damaging winds as they exit
Tornado Watch #91, and a new watch is needed into West Virginia.
DISCUSSION...An organized line of severe storms continues to push
rapidly east toward the OH River, with the northern end of the line
now into southwest OH. In addition, a warm advection wing has formed
over southern OH on the nose of the better low-level warm/moist
advection related to increasing southwesterly 850 mb winds. While
these individual cells may also pose a brief tornado threat, the
bulk of the severe threat should be widespread damaging winds.
Although currently stable farther east, the southwesterly warm
advection should allow for destabilization into WV and southwest VA.
