   Mesoscale Discussion 0328
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   0540 PM CDT Thu Apr 09 2020

   Areas affected...deep south Texas

   Concerning...Severe potential...Watch likely

   Valid 092240Z - 100045Z

   Probability of Watch Issuance...95 percent

SUMMARY...Cells capable of large hail may persist as they cross the
Rio Grande later this evening and a watch is being issued.

DISCUSSION...A very moist and unstable air mass exists over Deep
South TX, well south of the front to the north. Supercells have the
potential to maintain themselves given strong deep-layer shear,
despite a gradually increasing cap with eastward extent.
Large/damaging hail will be the primary threat. Later this evening,
it is possible that further development occurs along the
   southward-moving outflow boundary.
