Mesoscale Discussion 0341
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0857 PM CDT Sat Apr 11 2020
Areas affected...south central Oklahoma
Concerning...Severe potential...Watch likely
Valid 120157Z - 120300Z
Probability of Watch Issuance...95 percent
SUMMARY...A severe thunderstorm watch will be issued as storms --
accompanied by a risk for large hail -- cross the southern half of
Oklahoma.
DISCUSSION...Latest radar loop shows storms moving out of southwest
and into south-central Oklahoma. While a much more stable
surface-based layer exists east of the ongoing storms, ample
elevated instability is present across this area. As such,
potential for hail will exist as the storms spread eastward over the
next few hours. In addition, locally gusty/damaging winds may
occur, especially nearer to the Red River Valley nearer the
less-stable boundary layer that exists farther south/southwest.
