   Mesoscale Discussion 0378
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   0517 AM CDT Mon Apr 13 2020

Areas affected...Eastern South Carolina....southeastern Georgia and
   adjacent northern Florida

   Concerning...Tornado Watch 117...

   Valid 131017Z - 131145Z

The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 117 continues.

SUMMARY...A squall line will will overspread the remainder of
southeastern Georgia and coastal South Carolina through 8-10 AM EDT,
accompanied by continuing potential for damaging wind gusts and
   tornadoes.

DISCUSSION...Aided by inflow of moist boundary-layer air (including
surface dew points around 70 F) with CAPE up to 2000 J/kg, the
pre-frontal squall line advancing into the south Atlantic coastal
plain is maintaining considerable strength. Activity appears
focused along a low-level confluence zone near the 50-70+ kt
southerly 850 mb jet core, where strong to extreme low-level shear
continues to support the evolution of numerous mesoscale cyclonic
circulations within the line. It appears that this may continue
another couple of hours, accompanied by potential for locally
enhanced damaging wind gusts and occasional tornadic development. A
gradual weakening of the low-level jet is forecast as the convective
line approaches the northern Florida, Georgia and South Carolina
coast, with strongest convection probably becoming focused across
the Myrtle Beach SC vicinity by 13-14Z.
