Mesoscale Discussion 0385
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0306 PM CDT Mon Apr 13 2020
Areas affected...northern Florida
Concerning...Severe potential...Watch unlikely
Valid 132006Z - 132130Z
Probability of Watch Issuance...5 percent
SUMMARY...An isolated strong to severe storm or two is expected
through the afternoon across northern Florida.
DISCUSSION...One deeper updraft has developed across northern
Florida along a cold front. MLCAPE in this region is 1500 to 2000
per SPC mesoanalysis with effective shear of 45 to 50 knots. This
will support some continued storm organization. Storm coverage is
expected to remain limited due to weak forcing aloft and relatively
weak convergence along the front. However, the current storm and any
additional storm or two which can develop will pose a threat for
isolated large hail or damaging winds given the favorable
thermodynamic and kinematic environment in the region.
No watch is anticipated given the isolated and localized threat.
