   Mesoscale Discussion 0426
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   0229 PM CDT Tue Apr 21 2020

Areas affected...Southeast New York through southern Connecticut

   Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 128...

   Valid 211929Z - 212100Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 128
   continues.

SUMMARY...Threat for damaging wind will persist over Long Island and
possibly into southern Connecticut until around 21Z. Farther south
along the Mid Atlantic coast, the inland severe threat is ending as
   the line moves offshore.

DISCUSSION...Line of low-topped thunderstorms extends from
southwestern CT, into western Long Island and southward along the
Middle Atlantic coast. The line is moving east at 40-45 kt and will
move across southern CT and Long Island during the next 1.5 hours.
Occasional bowing segments continue to be observed. Compared to
farther south, the surface layer has not destabilized much with
temperatures remaining only in the upper 40s to around 50F. However,
this stable layer is relatively shallow, and with 40+ kt observed
between 0.5 and 1.5 km on the Upton VWP, potential remains for some
of this momentum to be transported to the surface along portions of
   the narrow convective line.
