   Mesoscale Discussion 0437
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   1129 AM CDT Wed Apr 22 2020

Areas affected...central through eastern Oklahoma into western
   Arkansas

   Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 132...

   Valid 221629Z - 221800Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 132
   continues.

SUMMARY...Threat for primarily isolated large hail will persist next
couple hours, from the eastern half of Oklahoma into western
Arkansas. A few strong to damaging wind gusts are also possible.

DISCUSSION...Late this morning numerous storms continue developing
from eastern OK to western AR within broad zone of isentropic ascent
associated with an eastward migrating 50 Kt southerly low-level jet.
Though a few discrete storms persist, tendency has been for storms
to consolidate into clusters which may reduce the overall coverage
of large hail events. Outflow boundary is advancing southeast
through east central OK, contributing to some quasi-linear
evolution. Given vertical wind profiles with 50+ kt effective bulk
shear, these storm might eventually organize into bowing segments
with embedded meso-vortices and become capable of producing strong
to damaging wind gusts as they continue east.

Farther west across west central through central OK, additional
storms will likely develop along and north of baroclinic zone as
this boundary begins to pivot southeast in association with the
progressive shortwave trough. These storms will also be capable of
producing large hail and damaging wind into the afternoon.
