Mesoscale Discussion 0462
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0228 PM CDT Thu Apr 23 2020
Areas affected...the Florida Panhandle
Concerning...Tornado Watch 140...
Valid 231928Z - 232030Z
The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 140 continues.
SUMMARY...Tornado watches 139 and 140 will soon likely be replaced
by a new tornado watch that will include the Florida Panhandle.
DISCUSSION...This afternoon a convective outflow boundary extends
through northern FL into the FL Panhandle. Farther west a squall
line continues to organize from the western FL panhandle into the
north central Gulf. This line of storms will continue east into a
moderately unstable environment and where vertical shear and 0-1 km
hodographs remain supportive of organized storms including bowing
segments and supercells capable of isolated tornadoes. Otherwise,
damaging wind and large hail are also possible as storms continue
developing along the squall line as well as in vicinity of the
convective outflow boundary.
