   Mesoscale Discussion 0479
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   1200 PM CDT Sun Apr 26 2020

   Areas affected...South FL

   Concerning...Severe potential...Watch unlikely

   Valid 261700Z - 261830Z

   Probability of Watch Issuance...5 percent

SUMMARY...Scattered thunderstorms will persist across south Florida
through the afternoon, with isolated large hail and strong downburst
   winds possible.

DISCUSSION...Multiple storm clusters have developed along a
pre-frontal boundary near Lake Okeechobee. Along and south of this
ongoing convection, strong buoyancy is present in a moist low-level
environment (mid 70s dewpoints and PW approaching 2 inches), with
surface temperatures in the mid-upper 80s. There is enough vertical
shear for organized multicell clusters with both strong updrafts
given the buoyancy, and strong downdrafts based on some dry air
aloft and DCAPE in excess of 1000 J/kg. The threat for isolated
large hail and downbursts will shift southeastward with the
convection through the afternoon, though it is not quite as warm
across far south/southeast FL as a result of anvil blowoff from
   ongoing and prior convection.
