NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   0505 AM CDT Wed Apr 29 2020

Areas affected...Texas Hill Country...Texas Coastal Plains

   Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 156...

   Valid 291005Z - 291200Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 156
   continues.

SUMMARY...A wind damage and hail threat will likely continue over
the next few hours across parts of the Texas Hill Country and Texas
   Coastal Plains.

DISCUSSION...A squall line continues to move southward across the
Texas Hill Country extending eastward to near the Gulf Coast in the
Beaumont/Port Arthur area. South of the line of storms, the airmass
is strongly unstable with MLCAPE estimated in the 3000 to 4000 J/kg
range by the RAP. The line is being supported by a shortwave trough
diving southeastward through the central and southern Plains evident
on water vapor imagery. In addition, southwesterly low-level flow of
30 to 40 kt is feeding into the linear MCS helping to sustain strong
updrafts. The squall line has been producing 60 to 70 mph wind gusts
over the last hours and is expected to remain severe for a little
while longer. As the line continues to move southward to the middle
and upper Texas Coast, wind damage will be possible along the
leading edge of the squall line. Hail may also occur with the
stronger cells embedded in the line.
