   Mesoscale Discussion 0554
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   1112 PM CDT Thu May 07 2020

Areas affected...Oklahoma and the eastern Texas Panhandle

   Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 171...

   Valid 080412Z - 080615Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 171
   continues.

SUMMARY...Severe squall line with damaging winds and some large hail
   will spread across Oklahoma tonight.

DISCUSSION...Deep convection is gradually organizing along a
sharpening frontal surge from southern KS - northwest OK - eastern
TX Panhandle. LLJ has increased markedly across northwest TX into
southwest OK over the last few hours and this should aid squall line
intensification into the early-morning hours. A well-defined warm
front has evolved over southern OK and strong low-level warm
advection is expected to enhance maturation over the next few hours.
Latest WoFS has been consistent regarding the possible evolution of
a squall line with damaging winds surging southeast just north of
the warm front. Latest radar trends support this scenario and a
squall line should surge toward the Oklahoma City metro around 06z.
Increasing confidence in a damaging squall line will necessitate a
   new severe thunderstorm watch soon.
