Mesoscale Discussion 0663
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
1128 PM CDT Thu May 21 2020
Areas affected...Southwestern KS into Northwestern OK
Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 200...
Valid 220428Z - 220630Z
The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 200
continues.
SUMMARY...Severe threat will increase along the KS/OK border over
the next 1-3 hours.
DISCUSSION...Slowly-expanding cold pool, due to merging supercells
and an evolving MCS, should soon force leading squall line toward
the KS/OK border. Northern line segment appears to be weakening and
this is supported by latest CAMs with more significant convection
expected to surge southeast into northwest OK in the next several
hours. Additionally, WoFS suggests MCS should surge into the eastern
OK Panhandle between 05-06z, then spread across northwestern OK
during the 08-09z time frame. Hail/wind remain possible with this
activity.
