   Mesoscale Discussion 0721
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   1123 PM CDT Sun May 24 2020

Areas affected...South Texas and Texas Coastal Plains

   Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 224...225...

   Valid 250423Z - 250630Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 224, 225
   continues.

SUMMARY...A wind damage and isolated large hail is expected to
continue into the overnight period across south Texas and the middle
   Texas Coastal Plain.

DISCUSSION...Latest radar imagery shows a well-developed linear MCS
from near the Rio Grande extending northward into eastern sections
of the Texas Hill Country. The large-scale bow and associated cold
pool is moving into a strongly unstable airmass with the RAP
estimating MLCAPE along the lower to middle Texas Coast in the 2500
to 3000 J/kg range. The line is being forced by an upper-level
trough and associated mid-level speed max moving through southwest
Texas. The line will continue eastward the Texas Coast and should
affect far south Texas where the instability and moderate deep-layer
shear should keep a wind damage threat going. An isolated tornado
and large hail threat will also be possible within rotating cells
   embedded in the line.
