Mesoscale Discussion 0728
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0339 PM CDT Mon May 25 2020
Areas affected...Southeast Oklahoma and western Arkansas
Concerning...Severe potential...Watch possible
Valid 252039Z - 252215Z
Probability of Watch Issuance...60 percent
SUMMARY...There is an increasing tornado threat across southeast
Oklahoma and western Arkansas over the next 1 to 2 hours.
DISCUSSION...Several mini supercells have developed in eastern
Oklahoma over the last 30 minutes with evidence of organizing
mid-level rotation. 0-1 km SRH has now increased to near 175 m2/s2
per KSRX VWP with MLCAPE around 1000 to 1500 J/kg. This should
support a continued threat for strengthening low-level rotation and
potentially an increasing tornado threat through the afternoon and
into the early evening. Given the latest radar trends and slightly
higher low level SRH than earlier, watch probabilities have
increased. Radar trends will be monitored over the next hour and a
tornado watch may be needed soon if trends continue.
