Mesoscale Discussion 0745
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0236 PM CDT Wed May 27 2020
Areas affected...Southern Mississippi...far southeast
Louisiana...and far southwest Alabama
Concerning...Severe potential...Watch unlikely
Valid 271936Z - 272100Z
Probability of Watch Issuance...20 percent
SUMMARY...Widely scattered strong to severe storms should continue
into the evening.
DISCUSSION...Additional strong storms have formed in the wake of
earlier convection across southern Mississippi and southwest Alabama
where renewed destabilization has occurred. MLCAPE across this
region is around 1500 to 2000 J/kg with the KLIX VWP showing 40
knots of flow above 6 km supporting storm organization. Multicells
and occasional supercell structures will continue to bring a threat
for large hail and damaging winds through the afternoon and into the
evening. However, the widely scattered and transient nature of the
strong to severe storms will continue to be limiting factors for a
watch.
